One for the Book – New & Improved Photo Booth Experience

I had lunch with Joseph, the creator of One for the Book, the other day and couldn’t wait to share about his exciting new service.  One for the Book takes the place of the stale photo booth at weddings and events.  Joseph and his team setup a custom-built backdrop complete with an advanced lighting system, camera operator, and digital photo viewing & printing station for your guests to enjoy.  Guests stand in for a mini photo shoot and are able to view and approve or delete the photos just taken.  They’re then able to add the photos and a message to a customized guest book as well as take prints home for themselves.  One for the Book will also project the approved photos during the event.

Visit their website for pricing and more info.  Be sure to watch the short video for a great overview of the experience!

Paparazzi Proposals

I was introduced to a really cool company today called Paparazzi Proposals.  These guys can be hired to take candid photos from a hidden location to capture your proposal.  This is such a cool idea!  Who doesn’t look back and wish they had that amazing experience documented.  Check out some of these great candid shots and visit their website for more info.

Design Trend – Chevron Print

This summer chevron print seems to be turning up everywhere.  Implementing this simple zig-zag pattern is a fun way to add a touch of color to your next event.  Try some of these chevron touches when designing your next party.  As with all bold prints, it’s best to use chevron as an accent; don’t go overboard with this print.

Add a touch of chevron to your table with a tablecloth or runner (tablescapes by Jesi Haack and Max & Ruby).

Attach a chevron print escort card to a potted succulent. It can double as a favor (by yes, please).

Chevron prints in earth tones can add subtle dimension to your table.  I love these grey chevron plates (by Elizabeth Benotti Contemporary Ceramics) and tan linen napkins (www.pepperdesignblog.com).

Chevron print ribbon adds color and style to a simple kraft favor box (ribbon by Paper + Pinafore available on Etsy).

I love this colorful clutch as a bridesmaid accessory or just to spice up an outfit (by ao3designs).

Have fun adding chevron details to your next event!

Beat the Heat – Summer Party Ideas

Summer has arrived in NYC and it is hot!  The heat has got me thinking of ideas for keeping cool at your summer soirees.  Implement some of these refreshing ideas into your next party to keep your guests cool and comfortable.

Great your guests with a cool scented towel.  Soak white towels in a tub of ice water with lemon or cucumber slices.  Wring them out just before guests arrive and roll them up to keep them cool.  Bring out a fresh batch half way through the party so guests can freshen up.

A refreshing cocktail is always welcome at a hot summer gathering.  Try using seasonal fruits, herbs and lots of ice!

Serve cold food items like cucumber honeydew gazpacho and snapper ceviche shooters (courtesy of www.wolfgangpuck.com).  Bring fresh cold batches out from the kitchen throughout the party.

Decorate the tables with baskets of fun patterned paper fans for guests to grab (courtesy of www.twoshadesofpink.blogspot.com)

Popsicles aren’t just for kids anymore, get creative and prepare gourmet pops in combinations like strawberry rosemary, blackberry lavender, and pineapple basil.

Outdoor parties in the summer can be fabulous if you plan to beat the heat!

Stay cool!

Wine & Cheese Pairing

Looking for a fun idea for a cocktail party?  Create a wine and cheese pairing party for a fun, delicious and educational theme.  There are so many types of wine and cheese out there its hard to know where to start when pairing.  Here are some helpful tips to get you started.

Harder cheeses such as parmesan, aged cheddar and asiago pair well with more tannic wines like Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux and Super Tuscans.

Softer cheeses such as brie, goat, and camembert pair well with more acidic wines like Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Dry Riesling.

Salty cheeses such as blue, feta and parmesan pair well with sweeter wines like Riesling, Port and other dessert wines.

Pair a wine and cheese from the same region or country like Chianti and fontina or Rioja and asiago

Try some of these pairings:

Cabernet Sauvignon with aged cheddar, gouda, parmesan or roquefort

Cabernet Franc with camembert, fontina or goat

Zinfandel with asiago, blue or gruyère

Sauvignon Blanc with asiago, feta or goat

Riesling with blue, colby or gouda

Champagne or sparkling wine with beaufort, brie, camembert or chevre

Dessert wine with creme fraiche or mascopone

All palates are unique so try out plenty of combinations to find what pairs best for you.

Cheers,

Heather

Neon Details

Neon is a huge fashion trend for this summer so why not incorporate neon details into your next event?  Neons are a bold choice and are best used as accent colors.  Add a few of these neon details to invigorate a summer party.

Set the energetic mood for your party with neon invites.

Create a vibrant table setting with neon chairs and accented linens.

Set your table with pops of neon like this glassware and flatware.

Finish off the tablescape with flowers or plants in neon color-blocked vases.

Liven up a seating area with bright throw pillows for guests to lounge.

Finish off the meal with neon pastries and candy.

Send your guests away with favors with a neon pop.

However you choose to incorporate neon, have fun with it!
